A systems analyst is an ambiguous title that has been used to describe everyone from programmer to team leader. In spite of its shortcomings, this title comes closest to defining the person (or persons) who play the most critical role in systems development, and who have the ultimate responsibility of overseeing the system project from inception to maintenance. Although the position of a systems analyst didn’t emerge at the same time as computer technology became available, those involved in developing computer applications quickly recognized the need for such an individual. A great deal of energy and effort was initially directed toward making the early computer systems produce output. In time, organizations and individuals became more demanding in terms of what the system was to do, how the system did it, and who decided how the system would operate. Out of this need, the position of systems analyst emerged. Today there is almost unanimous support for the need of systems analysts to successfully develop information systems. The activities of the systems analyst are varied and changing. Systems analysts today know more about business and users know more about computing (Senn, 1989). Current literature suggests that the 1990s will be quite different from the 1980s, that the technological focus will not be on computational technology, but on information access (Straub and Wetherbe, 1989). Besides technical skills and business understanding, the systems analyst must also possess strong interpersonal skills (Wetherbe, 1988). MIS research recognizes interaction between systems analysts and users to be a key dimension of information systems design and implementation. The spirit of cooperation, be it within a more traditional Systems Development Life Cycle model or The Changing Roles of the Systems Analyst

HR Manager Roles in the Context of Globalizing MNC Environment; Empirical Study

With the increasing globalization, more integrated markets, growing number of Multinational Corporations (MNCs) in India and dearth of studies in the area of internationalization and Human Resource (HRR) roles posed a line of enquiry into this aspect as the study is intended to explore the role of HR managers with the degree of internationalization in Indian MNCs. The roles of HR Professionals ...

Non-physician Clinicians – A Gain for Physicians’ Working in Sub-Saharan Africa; Comment on “Non-physician Clinicians in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Evolving Role of Physicians”

The changing demands on the health sectors in low- and middle-income countries especially sub-Saharan African countries continue to challenge efforts to address critical shortages of the health workforce. Addressing these challenges have led to the evolution of “non-physician clinicians” (NPCs), that assume some physician roles and thus mitigate the continuing shortage of doctors in these count...

Preparation of Lanthanum–Nickel–Aluminium Perovskite Systems and their Application in Methane-Reforming Reactions

In this study we developed LaNixAl1-xO3 perovskite systems using a sol-gelmethod (with propionic acid as solvent) to use in methane-reforming reactions for producing synthesis gas. To understand the roles of the nature of the precursor and calcination conditions on the formation of LaNixAl1-xO3, we carried out identifications using NMR, FT-IR, XRD, SEM, and TEM. The precursor struc...

Changing Roles of Matrix Metalloproteases and Their Inhibitors, TIMPs, During Tumor Progression and Angiogenesis

Inhibition of matrix-metalloproteinases (MMPs) by tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs) has been shown in vivo to decrease metastasis and tumor-associated angiogenesis. Our laboratory is interested in understanding the role of these proteins at the pericellular microenvironment of tumor and endothelial cells. Secretion of MMPs by tumor cells enables the migration, invasion and metasta...

Multiplicity of Positive Solutions of laplacian systems with sign-changing weight functions

In this paper, we study the multiplicity of positive solutions for the Laplacian systems with sign-changing weight functions. Using the decomposition of the Nehari manifold, we prove that an elliptic system has at least two positive solutions.
